Hey There!

In true strategist form, let’s start with an audience persona.

The Demographics: I’m a proud daughter to a family of engineers, microbiologists and doctors and a mother to some 100 animals on the street. A Gen-Z enthusiast at heart, recent expert in working from home and an incredibly curious being. Growing up, I quickly realized my innate love for storytelling and explored the craft by scribbling stories in my journal, participating in photo walks, or via creative projects using makeshift equipment. As I grew older, I gathered experiences in digital marketing, event management, graphic designing and photography, to better equip myself with the media industry.  I graduated from SVKM's UPG College in June with a degree in Mass Media and a concentration in advertising.

The Psychographics: Empathy rules my psyche. I think in questions even though I don’t always have the answers – that’s what makes my blood run with curiosity and courage. I like to call myself an outspoken wallflower: I’m constantly observing culture in a nonlinear fashion while creating stories and roadmaps out of my surroundings. As a budding strategist- I always ask: “What Identities do I carry that determine my ways of seeing?” I have the work ethic of a true Scorpio woman, and my habit of procrastination keeps my daydreams diligent. For the many tomorrows that lay ahead of me, I am on the constant lookout to learn new ways, explore the many possibilities and innovate concepts of storytelling better than my today.

BASICALLY, I dream big AND PLAN BIGGER.

WHat makes me tick

Here's a condensed list of Facebook interests that i am targeted ads with:

Ruskin Bond

Like most Indian kids, I was first introduced to Bond in the school library; and it is a love affair that has grown ever since. Emotions such as grief, nostalgia, rejection, longing; that are often hard to explain, are very subtly woven into words. If you've ever finished reading a book and felt as if you've parted from an old friend,

Music

Of course, music. From Queen's Bohemian Rhapsody to Khoj by When Chai Met Toast; from singing under the shower to humming in the comfort of a particular moment; from adding new music to my 84th playlist to spamming my best friend with it, music is connecting me with myself now more than ever. As I’m writing this,

Humans of New York

In the age of the aesthetic consumerism of visual culture online, HONY stands as a warm beacon of humanity, gently reminding us that every image is not a disposable artifact but a heart that beats in the blink of the shutter, one that will continue to beat with its private turbulence of daily triumphs even as we move away from the screen.

Journaling

The best thing about journal writing is that no matter what I end up writing about, it’s hard to not grow from it. You can’t just look at a past entry in which you acted shamefully and say “That was dumb, anyway!” No, we say “I will never make a dumb choice like that again!”

Sustainability

Conversations around sustainability have become a mainstay in the fashion world. And rightly so. After all, the industry is responsible for a whopping percentage of carbon emissions worldwide. As part of the gen-Z myself, I have been witnessing this fashion metamorphosis since my teen years. This is a staple discourse and I am all for it!

Film Cameras

I tend to approach film photography with somewhat of an “art project” mindset, so I’m far more tolerant of imperfections as opposed to when I’m shooting digital. And since I’m admittedly bad at reading manuals (I just don’t do it), I’ve made my fair share of accidental double exposures. Turns out I’ve enjoyed the results of most of those accidents.

Solo Trips

I've acquired enough world trivia to fill a textbook thanks to solo travel, but I've also learned a whole lot about myself. Cliché as it may be, having control over my own itinerary has taught me what it is that makes me happy — gallery hopping, Vietnamese coffee, eating every cheesecake possible— which I am then able to adapt to my everyday life at home.

Advitya is a creative center for those gifted with conditions like Down’s syndrome, Autism and Cerebral Palsy among others. Advitya was started with the mission to provide special individuals a place where they could be loved and cherished. I started my journey with them as a volunteer to achieve the goal of building a place where these differently-abled people can continue living life with dignity.

A few artists came together to strengthen the community by buying food essentials for the ones in dire need during the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020. From here, Artists For Artists came to be.
At present, A4A procures groceries at wholesale prices from retailers, packs them, and dispatches them across Mumbai. I joined the team as a volunteer and attended calls from artists in need while also securing sponsorship for them.

The Feline Foundation is an animal welfare NGO in Mumbai that aims to improve the lives of stray cats through population control, medical treatment, and community awareness. I joined the organization as a rescue volunteer and helped them find a permanent home for the strays by deploying my knowledge about Public Relations.

The lockdown gave me the time (and motivation) to restart and relearn the hobby of making art with new mediums. Hence, Unfettered Frames came into being. It means unrestrained or uninhibited frames, visual stories that are free from any boundaries. The page gave me a playground to talk about music and movies, two things I hold very close to my heart and show my perspective on some unsaid aspects of them. It gave me the freedom to grow and learn digital art but more than anything, gave me the chance to be unfettered and real about my thoughts.
